West, Central and East Trabzon Y-DNA Haplogroups

Having investigated the Y-DNA haplogroups in Trabzon, now I will go into detail by splitting Trabzon into three regions;

Akçaabat, Vakfıkebir, Tonya and Beşikdüzü make up the West Trabzon group.

The Trabzon town, Maçka, Arsin and Araklı make up the Central Trabzon group.

Sürmene, Of, Köprübaşı and Çaykara make up the East Trabzon group.

Let’s begin with West Trabzon;

G2a: The most dominant haplogroup in West Trabzon, half of the branches in West Trabzon are M406 and the other half are FGC7535. The reason for the increase of the FGC7535 branch here may be that this branch made a founder effect in Tonya, because 80% of the FGC7535 branch found in whole Trabzon are in the Tonya district.

J2a: Most of them are M67 branches.

East Trabzon is the region where the tested people from Trabzon are most concentrated.

L1b: It is in high frequency in East Trabzon, its most frequent sub-branch is PH8.

G2a: Most of them are M406.

J2a: All of them are M67 and M92 branches.
